CROWN

CROWN by Madisyn Carlin

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Madisyn Carlin has quickly become one of my favorite fantasy authors!

I read IRON first, so I was happy to meet the younger versions of Calvin and Isadora in CROWN. They were both sympathetic characters who had relatable struggles. I also really enjoyed meeting Red’s parents, Euler and Janni (who were hilarious, by the way), and seeing Red and Chamonix as toddlers. I’m a reader who appreciates books with some action, so I’m happy to report that CROWN provided me with some suspenseful, action-packed scenes. Calvin and Isadora’s romance was sweet and clean, and I was glad to see them get together after all the trouble they went through. One of the themes that stood out to me was being thankful in all circumstances. I love the humor Madisyn Carlin includes in her books, and CROWN was no exception. Overall, I found CROWN to be an entertaining, enjoyable read that I’d recommend to those who love Christian fiction, fantasy novels, and fairy-tale retellings.
